Himig Nasyonalismo: A Benefit Concert featuring Noel Cabangon

Nationalism is a shared characteristic built by a common history, enriched by a dynamic present, and directed towards a promising future. It is in this light that the Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana Social Involvement Office (KKP-SIO) in its 25 years of leading Xavier University to become a community that is responsive to the needs of society inspired by Ignatian Advocacy of promoting “Faith that does Justice”, has been faithful in its mission of promoting nationalism among its students and faculty members through actual community engagements that serves as concrete expression of love for one’s country.

KKP-SIO in the celebration of its 25th year brings to Cagayan de Oro City the songs of renowned musical artist and social advocate, Noel Cabangon through its upcoming musical and advocacy concert offering entitled, “Himig Nasyonalismo” on February 18, 2011, 6:00PM at the Xavier University Gymnasium. The concert is a partnership between KKP-SIO, Office of Research and Social Outreach, First Year Formation Program, Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts and the Volunteers for Community Outreach and Resource Development- Year of Service Program.

A Press Conference is scheduled on the same day, 10:30AM at the Thai Me Up Restaurant, corner Capistrano- Mabini streets, Cagayan de Oro City, this shall be participated by XU’s Vice-President for Research and Social Outreach, Ms. Hilly Ann Roa- Quaoit, the KKP-SIO Director, Ms. Dennise Edwina S. Gonzales and Mr. Noel Cabangon.

It is the organizers’ hope that this concert will not only jumpstart KKP-SIO’s year long Anniversary Celebration but promote as well XU’s mission of “forming men and women for and with others” with a strong sense of service and love for one’s country.
