Faculty Community Involvement & Service

One of the distinct features of Xavier University is its long tradition of conditioning the efforts to integrate community involvement in the Academe, as an imperative element of educating its students. This manifests the University’s efforts of continually addressing its mandate as a Jesuit and Catholic University, which mandate includes the commitment and service of the faith, considered as integral components in all its endeavors, presently, this is being fully facilitated through the University’s programs particularly those that relate to spiritual development and community involvement.

In the latest PAASCU Survey, the team commended the University’s extensive involvement in community development through its various development agencies. It also recognized the students’ participation and involvement in community service especially among the student organizations.

While the PAASCU Team recognized and commended these various involvements of the university, they also strongly recommended for the University to ensure that the Faculty should be actively involved in these extension programs. The XU President also considers this as one of the priority concerns that need urgent attention by the University in the coming years.

In response to the challenge, KKP-SIP developed the Faculty Community Involvement and Service Program (FCISP) which facilitates activities beneficial to the faculty member concerned in terms of exposure and experience relevant to his or her field of expertise.
